Mullet Maddison

I got a call while I was at work on Thursday with Geoff informing me that Maddison was grounded...not just a time out but full on grounded...for the weekend. Curious as to what she did, I of course asked. I think part of me wishes I didn't ask but then again, I would've found out....there was no hiding it.

My daughter has a mullet!! AHHHHHHHH!!

I had to come in doing damage control. For those that do not know, or even realize, this was Maddison's very first hair cut, ever. Amongst what was her full, long, and beautiful hair held baby hair. I never imagined that when I finally got around to doing her first hair cut it would be to cut off about 10 inches of hair (looking at the pictures it may not seem like 10 inches I cut but pull it straight and it is about that). You ask if I cried??? Of course I cried. I cried when I first heard the news and when I was about to cut for the damage control. I honestly did not realize that I would react that way when Geoff first told me but I guess you never really know how you might react until it happens. It doesn't help that I feel personally that her hair has always been her best physical feature on her.

As I stood there with her looking in the mirror and scissors in my hand, I was still deciding if I wanted to fix it or have a professional fix it. I chose me. I am rather impressed with myself. I felt as if I was natural. (Honestly though, you can tell me different if you'd like.) So....scissors in hand, I start crying again...I haven't cut anything yet. Maddison is making sure that I know that she is waiting and ready but I'm not ready..I suppose I don't have much of a choice now. I cut just above her pony tail and show Maddison. She says, "Mom, is that your hair?". Ummm no. Before I tell her that it is her hair, I have her feel for her hair in the back. She was neutral. She didn't seem to care. The only thing she cared about was making sure I was not cutting her hair like her dad's. I had told her a couple times that I might have to cut it like dad's because she took scissors to hers. Haahaa! I am mean.

Now you can hear her singing around the house, "I like it short, I like it short, I like it short!". You think she likes it?

Well, when you do such a good job, can you blame her for liking it?? I think it looks SO cute!!

I think it turned out super cute. My Mom grows my nieces hair out super long. They had to finally trim it because it got into the "potty danger zone".
